Mark has worked throughout New Zealand in the private and public sectors as a consultant, with councils and Central Govt agencies since 1981.

The particular focus of Marks work has been on resource consenting for land use and development projects, assessment of effects, consent project management, due diligence, hearings (Council and Environment Court); consultation and mediation; district plans and policy analysis. Mark also has experience working with Tangata Whenua.

When practicable, Mark takes a collaborative approach to a proposal including the client, affected parties and regulatory authorities in order to provide the best chance of achieving the client’s objectives.

Mark’s portfolio includes an extensive range of residential, commercial, industrial development projects; office, retail, medical centres and private hospitals; subdivision; tourism, community and sporting facilities; educational facilities; churches; transport and fuel facilities; hotels and other accommodation facilities; coastal structures and management; horticulture; quarries and sand mines; district plan reviews; wastewater and stormwater, earthworks; resource consent systems; telecommunications; high-rise buildings; wineries; and historic buildings.

Interests outside work include cycling, yachting, masters rowing and swimming, and the occasional bit of trout fishing.
